Ignatian Spirituality

‌S.E.E.D. is rooted in Ignatian Spirituality which emphasizes St. Ignatius of Loyola’s model for finding God in all things. The retreatants are also taught to pray the Examen and other types of Ignatian prayer that have been adapted for children.

Unique Retreat Experience

No two S.E.E.D. Retreats are the same because they are tailored to meet the needs of the retreatants and families attending each year, in each place. Thus, children can attend S.E.E.D. annually and the retreat themes will change to serve them as they mature.

Faith + Fun = S.E.E.D. Retreat

S.E.E.D. retreat is a combination of spiritual retreat and summer camp - featuring activities, scavenger hunts, and arts & crafts in conjunction with prayers, meditation, and faith sharing. In this way, the retreatants can encounter and experience God in many different ways.

Formed & Trained Leaders & Organizers

S.E.E.D. is planned, prepared, and delivered entirely by young adults with logistical support from the parents of the retreatants, and ecclesiastical support from priests. The leaders and organizers are trained regularly. They are also required to be certified in child safety training & attend annual retreat.

Grade Appropriate Track

S.E.E.D. features 2-3 different tracks for the retreatants based on school-grades so the children can be among their  peers. This structure also allows S.E.E.D. Leaders to cater each track to the specific needs of the retreatants in that track. Tracks are based on the academic year the children will be entering in the fall and they include Kids Track (1st - 6th grade), Preteen Track (7th - 9th grade), and High School Track (10th - college freshman).

retreat for the whole family

S.E.E.D. is one of the few retreats where the whole family attends together. While the program is tailored for the children, the parents journey with their children in their own separate track that follows the theme of that retreat. This allows the family to bring the retreat experience into their home and grow together in Ignatian Spirituality even after the retreat is over.
